Do you have a vision supporting your purpose?

By January 25, 2025Uncategorized

I was walking the land day after day, weeks on end, asking to be shown what I was to do in the new state I had just moved to.

Then I went to a little church, just to meet people, and found myself volunteering as a guest speaker! (Where did that come from?) Within two weeks I was the minister of this small church and 3 months later I, and my new community, which had already quadrupled, began our own church (although many of them called it the “not a church.”) The next 5 years, as the leader of that community, was such an alive, learning time for me, and for the many that we touched.

What I had done, with dreams, intuition and a connection to Source, was create a new vision for my life. I had many occasions to hone my purpose statement throughout my adult life but it was only after learning how to bridge the being into the doing that I was able to attract the people, place and experiences to fulfill my purpose.

Taking control, setting goals, doing affirmations, visualizing what you want, or any of those things alone never work for most of us. While the mind is a powerful tool, what matters is where the impetus for creating comes from. I think we often act out of fear, shoulds, or stale yearnings, rather than current heartfelt desires. What we create may not be what is needed and right for our life ultimately.

While our heads are intelligent (for the most part), our hearts are wise. The culture has taught us to live in our head. Life is too complex to navigate from there. Our analytical mind is not up to the task. We find our “north star” with our hearts, where our true knowing resides.

In a sense purpose provides a road map for our entire life. Vision provides a road map for different phases of our life. Purpose taps our natural power and vitality and moves us toward our vision.

Our purpose and our values give us an anchor. They simply ask us to be true to ourself. Vision is ‘what’ you are compelled to express; what you feel called to be and do in the world. Vision allows you to build a bridge between your purpose and the world you live in.

This is our growing edge; what we are becoming.

May your new year be filled with love, light and purpose!
