I stood naked in front of the full length mirror in my bedroom, wondering if anyone would ever find me attractive again.
I heard my mother’s words ringing in my ears, “There’s nothing golden about the golden years.” I still felt pretty good, but wondered how long that would last.
I stopped going out dancing as often as I really wanted to because I was afraid of appearing like an old woman wanting to look and act young and sexy.
I began to shrivel. I got tired easily. I told myself that at age 71 the good times were soon over for me.
One day as I lay on my swing in the sunshine I heard, “How old to you feel Carolyn?” What? “Well I guess it depends on the day.” Then I remembered something I had read that morning about re-connecting with something that we loved to do when we were younger. That wasn’t it for me, but what about what I knew/know but seemed to forget? I have tools!
Duh! What we fully embrace as true is what we manifest in our lives. It is about energy and vibration. If I think and feel old I will be old. If I think and feel sexy, I will be sexy. If I behave as a person who embodies her good fortune in any area of my life with gratitude, more good fortune will come to me. I have experience of this being true.
So what got into me? My mother’s words, the media, complainers around me?It hasn’t taken me long to embrace myself as a beautiful elder woman! I love to play in Nature and call in the aliveness of knowing I have wisdom (and my juicy self) to share.
I used those remembered tools, I found my purpose again, and people keep asking me what I am doing because I look younger and exude vibrance.
I want you to have access to this juiciness within yourself! Let’s come more authentically and fully alive as mid-life to elder women together.
