The Generous Act of Self-Care

By November 7, 2025December 1st, 2025Blog post
Are you able to recognize when you need a little loving self-care? 🌸
Last winter, I was blessed to spend time in a peaceful condo on a quiet beach in Mexico—a perfect escape from the world’s chaos. It was my time to recharge and reflect.
I invited a couple of girlfriends to join me, and we decided on a snorkeling trip to Cozumel. Getting there involved several forms of very loud transportation, and the pounding music didn’t stop once we boarded the boat! Between the lively atmosphere and multiple snorkeling stops, it was a sensory adventure for sure.
I wanted so badly to keep up with the 50-year-olds on the boat (never mind the teenagers!), but as the day wore on, I found myself growing cold and weary—a clear reminder that what once felt invigorating can, in a new season of life, become unexpectedly exhausting.

The next day, my friends were ready for more exploring. But I felt a gentle tug inside—a whisper saying I needed rest, stillness, and the serene comfort of our quiet condo. This time, I chose to listen.

There was a time when I was a scuba diver and said “yes” to every adventure. But life evolves, and so do we. It took genuine compassion for myself to release that identity of the wild adventurer. My body was telling a new story—one that invited a softer pace and deeper self-connection.
Consider this: When was the last time you pushed yourself to meet everyone else’s expectations and overlooked your own changing needs?
What if you gave yourself permission to pause—to breathe, to reflect, and to honor where you are now?
Our lives are continually unfolding, and every chapter deserves to be met with compassion and gratitude. Let’s celebrate our transformations, even the quiet ones. Because taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s generous. 💗
